The Alexandria Harmonizers
** JUNE 9th SHOW INFO CLICK HERE! **
One of the preeminent men’s choruses in the world, for over 60 years the Alexandria Harmonizers have been electrifying audiences with tight harmonies and high-energy choreography. With nearly 100 men, from ages 18 to 81, their renowned "wall of sound" has led to numerous prestige performances and 17 international competition medals, including four world championships.
Hailing from the National Capital Area in Alexandria, Virginia, the Harmonizers have been delighting audiences since their founding in 1948 as the Alexandria, VA cha
pter of SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America—now called the Barbershop Harmony Society).
In 2011 the Harmonizers won the Mid-Atlantic District contest for the 23rd time, sending them to the Barbershop Harmony Society International Contest in Kansas City where, against very stiff competition, they were thrilled to win the 5th Place bronze medal for the 2nd consecutive year.
Over the past six decades the Harmonizers have performed throughout North America at many prestigious venues and affairs including the White House, the U.S. Supreme Court, Carnegie Hall, Disneyland, the Kennedy Center, the National Vietnam Memorial, the National Cherry Blossom Parade, the National Building Museum, Constitution Hall, RFK Stadium, Nationals Park, Camden Yards, Wolf Trap, the Super Dome in New Orleans, the Saddle Dome in Calgary, the Cow Palace in San Francisco, and many more. In September 2012 they are scheduled to perform in Bejing, China.
The Alexandria Harmonizers are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established with the mission to "Enrich Lives Through Harmony." Members of the performing chorus are accepted through a formal membership program and audition process.
While the Alexandria Harmonizers perform and compete routinely at public venues across the nation, they are also available for private performances and conduct numerous youth programs to keep the melody ringing for generations to come.
Prospective members, fans, and media are welcome at all of our rehearsals. Come see why everyone says, "It's great to be a Harmonizer!"
